Philosophical Questions and the Future of Banana-It-Up
Does this inclusion of the phrase "banana-it-up" essentially banana-up the class wiki by overanalyzing a slang phrase? Does the inclusion of such a funny and informally coined term (presented in a formal fashion) cause the definition itself to become banana'd-up. One cannot use the term without accepting the potential for banana-ing-up ones own claim, thus using a banana'd-up claim to describe something else that is indeed itself also banana'd-up. Because of this, the term's usage is considered controversial, and never appropriate during serious academic discussion. However, in such cases where the academic discussion revolves around descriptions of things that are inherently banana'd-up (for example A Million Penguins, various forms of vandalism, US policy in the Middle East, etc.) the phrase can be (and often is) used. For instance, discussing (academically) A Million Penguins without utilizing the term is very difficult, thus in this case, usage of the term would be acceptable to forward thinking scholars. Still, the usage is, as said above, highly controversial as academia is reluctant to accept the meme as a legitimate, socially formed descriptive phrase because of the questions and problems indicated above. Usage of the term is frequently viewed as a sign of independent, free-thinking defiance toward old academic models of "bandwagon" thinking. The term, however, is beginning to catch on, despite the academic unacceptance. Attempts to prevent (or in actuality, banana-up) the phrase's continued eventual acceptance will be viewed as a whole-hearted acceptance to the spirit and majestic fluidity of the term banana-it-up, only further causing the phrase to catch on faster, as if the social structure of society was in a barbiturate addicted state of idle acceptance, blindly embracing all memes presented to its mind-altered state. For these reasons, the majority of scholars believe that usage of the term will become a societal norm. The term is poised to become a sufficient descriptive phrase; a phrase that one might often hear used in scholarly discussion in the next few decades. For the few that have already accepted the term in academia: the Banana Man salutes you.
